Four days after the draw, Essendon’s elusive mystery millionaire has come forward to claim their Monday Lotto division one prize.
The Victorian player holds one of the two division one winning entries in Monday Lotto draw 3992, drawn Monday 20 July 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
The ticket was unregistered, so officials from the Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the news. Instead, they had to wait for the ticketholder to come forward and claim their prize.
How the winner plans to enjoy life as a millionaire will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
The winning entry was purchased at Fresh News Agency, Shop T11, Essendon Fields, 30 English Street, Essendon Fields.
Fresh News Agency owner Dean Hamood said he was thrilled the million-dollar prize had finally been claimed.
“We are so pleased they have discovered their win!” he exclaimed.
“Now, all they have to do is sit back and enjoy it.
“Congratulations to them! We wish them all the best!”
The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said while we might not know how the mystery Essendon winner planned to enjoy their prize, there was no doubt it would have brightened their day.
“Imagine the feeling of seeing your bank account balloon by those extra zeros!” she exclaimed.
“Previous winners have told us they will use their windfall to fulfil their dream of buying a new home, retiring early or upgrading their car.
“While other newly-minted millionaires declare they can’t wait to share their good fortune with family and friends.
“No matter how Essendon’s most recent winner plans to enjoy their prize, we can be certain the possibilities are endless!”
Last financial year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 203 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday Lotto draw 3992 on Monday 20 July 2020 were 18, 2, 7, 14, 3 and 35, while the supplementary numbers were 5 and 16.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday’s Lotto draw – one each Victoria and South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 215 so far this calendar year, including 82 won by Tatts customers.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 101 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $98 million.
