A Redwood Park shopper has picked up more than just their bread and milk after scratching one of the top prizes of $150,000 on a $10 Jumbo Crosswords ticket while out doing their groceries.

The winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at IGA Redwood Park, 414 Milne Road, Redwood Park.

How the winner plans to enjoy their windfall will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

IGA Redwood Park manager Lucy Keatch said she was delighted to discover her outlet had sold a massive Instant Scratch-Its top prize.

“This is the first major prize we’ve sold since we opened in 2011 so we are thrilled!” she exclaimed.

“It’s pretty exciting to know one of our customers is now $150,000 richer.

“We have a lot of regular customers who play Instant Scratch-Its so they will be so happy to hear a local has won and will be hoping they are next.

“We’re sure the good news will create a buzz and hopefully bring more people into our store.

“We’ll be celebrating in store all week. I can’t wait to tell the staff and the rest of management we’ve sold a big one.

“Congratulations to our customer! We wish them all the best with their prize!”

Instant Scratch-Its spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said she was sure the happy winner was delighted by their instant win.

“What an excellent time to score a prize worth $150,000!” she exclaimed.

“While we don’t know how our winner will enjoy their prize, we have no doubt this player will be smiling from ear to ear knowing their bank balance is about to balloon by a few extra digits.

“Other winners have told us they use their windfall to upgrade their car, go on a holiday, or shout their family to a great celebratory dinner.

“No matter how they enjoy their prize, we are sure it is a boost to their day, week, month and year!”

In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
