A Penrith couple have bid farewell to mortgage repayments and are looking forward to enjoying the feeling of financial freedom after winning division one in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The western Sydney residents held one of the nine division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4081 on Saturday 29 August 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $555,248.73.
Confirming their win with an official from the Lott this morning, the disbelieving husband explained they made the life-changing discovery over the weekend.
“Wow. Thank you very much,” he laughed.
“My wife bought the ticket and we scanned it on Sunday morning and saw we had a win but the amount didn’t appear.
“She had a feeling it was a big prize so we went straight to the local newsagency to check the ticket but the result didn’t come up on the screen.
“When we checked the numbers we thought there was no way it was real!
“My wife just started crying.
“It was incredible. We were both blown away!”
When asked how the couple planned to enjoy their Saturday Lotto fortune, they said it would bring a huge amount of financial freedom.
“We’re going to pay off the mortgage,” he said.
“It will be incredible to not have to make another mortgage repayment.
“We will both keep working but this will make our day-to-day lives so much easier.
“It’s a real game changer for us!”
The happy pair, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Nextra Westend, Shop 29, Westfield Penrith, 585 High Street, Penrith.
Nextra Westend owner Shivji Vekaria said discovering his outlet had sold a division one winning entry was the best way to start the day.
“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold, so we’re looking forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with our customers,” he said.
“We hope this is the beginning of plenty of big wins for our customers.
“We are extremely happy for our winners and we are sure they will put their prize to good use.
“Congratulations to them!”
Last financial year, Saturday Lotto created 127 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4081 on Saturday 29 August 2020 were 16, 13, 25, 44, 40 and 20 while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 28.
Across Australia, there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4081 – four from Victoria, two from New South Wales, two from Western Australia, and one from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 267 so far this calendar year, including 67 won by New South Wales Lotteries customers.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 318 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $346.12 million.
