A week after the draw, a Port Pirie man has revealed his weekly routine of grabbing a Keno entry while running errands has scored him $50,000 in a recent Keno draw.

The South Australian held a Keno Spot 8 winning entry in draw 2649149 on Wednesday 29 July 2020 and takes home $50,000.

This morning, an official from the Lott contacted the winner, who revealed he watched his winning numbers come up on the screen one by one.

“It feels great to have scored $50,000!” he exclaimed.

“I play my tickets every week when I go into town to run errands.

“I was still in the newsagency when the draw played up on the screen so I got to see my numbers come out.

“I couldn’t believe it!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno windfall, the happy winner said he would put it to good use.

“I’ll probably use it to pay a few bills before putting the rest into savings,” he declared.

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Keno Spot 8 entry at Pirie Plaza Newsagency, Shop 15, Pirie Plaza, Grey Terrace, Port Pirie.

$50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize yet to be claimed

A second $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize is still yet to be claimed, with a Flagstaff Hill resident or visitor walking around with a winning ticket – they just don’t know it yet.

The winning entry was not registered to an EasiPlay Club card, so officials from the Lott have no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

The Keno Spot 8 prize was sold at Flagstaff Hill Licenced Post Office & Newsagency, Shops 7 & 8, Flagstaff Hill Shopping Centre, Flagstaff Hill SA 5159.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer encouraged Keno players across South Australia to check their tickets.

“Imagine walking around $50,000 richer and just not knowing it!” she said.

“If you purchased a Keno entry from Flagstaff Hill Licenses Post Office & Newsagency there are fifty thousand reasons why you should check your ticket.

“You could be our mystery Keno winner! Just imagine what you could do with an extra $50,000!

“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket contact SA Lotteries on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 28 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $4.46 million.  The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.66 million was won by a Whyalla player in December 2019, and a prize of more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2020.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
