From best mates sharing a $15 million jackpot prize, to two New South Wales residents who can now begin to rebuild their homes after being affected by the bushfires, this week the Lott has had some unforgettable winners that lifted our spirits.

Bushfire recovery begins for New South Wales players

At the Lott we can never predict where lottery wins will land, but this week we saw two Lucky Lotteries 1st Prizes fall in New South Wales.

The first, a $200,000 Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot 1st Prize, landed in the hands of an Inverell man whose farm was destroyed when bushfires ripped across the country earlier this year.

The emotional and overwhelmed winner said he didn’t think he’d be able to rebuild, but his unexpected prize has changed everything.

“We had a massive fire rip through the farm, destroying it,” he explained.

“I lost almost everything! There’s barely anything left.

“It was terrible. I’ve been so stressed, worrying about what I’ve needed to do.

“This will help me get back on my feet. You have no idea how much this means to me. It changes everything for me!”

More than six hundred kilometres away a Camden couple, who were also affected by the bushfires, said they finally sensed a change in luck when they won $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10358.

“We were impacted by the bushfires and then the floods, so this will be used to fix our home up, and we will do some other renovations too,” the couple shared.

“You have really lifted our spirits!”

Central Queensland mates share $15 million Oz Lotto prize

How would you like to share a multi-million-dollar prize with your best mate?

Two Central Queensland workmates did clock off early on Wednesday when they discovered they held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw but said despite winning $15 million, they’d keep showing up for work.

“I was just over at my mate’s house when we checked the ticket,” one friend explained.

“When we saw we had won I was so shocked, all I could say was ‘that’s good’.

“We’ll need a bit of time to weigh up all of our options, but we already have lots of plans for how to enjoy it!”

Moreton Bay woman’s legs turn to jelly when she realises she’s Set for Life

A Moreton Bay woman was wasting no time resigning from work and purchasing the perfect country cottage after discovering she won the Set for Life First Prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years in draw 1678.

When an official from the Lott confirmed the news with her on Monday, she said she was looking forward to taking things easy and enjoying life.

“When I initially saw the win come up on the screen I screamed, I had watery eyes and my legs were like jelly!” she explained.

“I can feel a big cry coming, but I might save that for when I tell my husband.

“We have been through a really, really rough time lately. You can’t imagine what this will mean for us!”

Powerball skyrockets to $80 million

Powerball has jackpotted to an eye-watering $80 million for Thursday’s draw for only the sixth time in the game’s 24-year history.

If the $80 million jackpot prize is won next week, the division one winner will be the second Powerball winner of the decade. In February a Caloundra woman found herself lost for words when she discovered she’d won $60 million.

An $80 million jackpot prize has only been won once previously, back in 2009 when it was shared by two division one winning entries – one each from New South Wales and Victoria.
