A Warrnambool local declared he had a ‘pretty good’ Christmas after scratching one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1 on a Santa’s Li’L Helper Instant Scratch-Its ticket he received as a gift.

The winning $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Warrnambool, 145 Koroit St, Warrnambool.

Sharing his excitement with an Instant Scratch-Its official today while confirming the win, the thrilled local confessed the winning ticket was the best Christmas gift he’d ever received.

“I received it as a Christmas present from a family member,” he revealed.

“I don’t usually play Instant Scratch-Its tickets so the win came as a huge surprise!

“I had to look at it a few times to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I definitely didn’t believe it!

“I haven’t told the family member who gave it to me that I’ve won yet either. I just wanted to make sure it was real before I said anything!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the festive winner confessed he had his sights set on a holiday.

“I’ll definitely find a way to enjoy it!” he laughed.

“I’ll spend it on all the usual things first like paying a bit more off the mortgage, but I’ll definitely use some of it to go away somewhere.

“I’m not sure where yet as I haven’t thought that far but I will definitely enjoy some time off!”

Nextra Warrnambool manager Michele Sandland said she was delighted to discover her outlet had sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“That’s amazing! How nice for the winner!” she exclaimed.

“We had a great run of wins in 2018 as we sold multiple division one and top prizes that year. “We’ve had a bit of a break from wins last year but we hope this is the start of another winning streak for us in 2020!

“Congratulations to our winner!”

In 2019, there were 114 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $9.61 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $208.8 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
